Looking at my 10 year Indian visa, which is to expire this year, I realized how long I've been coming to India, and specifically in Delhi, the changes I've seen in the last decade. Late summer of 2010, Delhi will be hosting the Commonwealth Games, so the push is on for major infrastructure development. They are trying for an express airport metro train to get you from downtown New Delhi to the airport in 15 minutes. Now, during worst traffic, the ride is about 75 minutes.

I'm on my way back to the airport for a Jet Lite flight to Kathmandu. I stayed at the Blue Triangle YWCA last night - it's good value for the money, and a great place to meet fellow travelers. At breakfast I had an invitation from a Danish woman to go to the Islamic Music Festival today, and also met a young man from the Ministry of Transportation of Indonesia. I think the reason that these people chatted me up is because I got them more breakfast. Breakfast is included in the price of the room, but the dining room staff hides in the kitchen, so it looks like your breakfast choices are dry toast or soupy porridge with no bowls. However, if you can roust them out of the kitchen, you can get scrambled eggs and fruit. Well, no fruit today - when I asked if there was any, they said, no, but it's coming soon. Soon can be in 5 minutes or in 5 days.
